After the re-release of Wolfgang Voigt’s massive GAS albums on Kompakt earlier this month, another series of classic leftfield techno albums is going to be reissued in July – Pole’s ’1’, ’2’ and ’3’ [check out Poles last album ’Steingarten’ after the jump].

In the beginning there was a Waldorf 4 Pole filter, and it didn’t just inspire Stefan Betke to his now classic project name. 

No, its distinctive crackles, caused by a defect, became the pulsating and glowing centre of his multilayered, richly textured tracks.

Ten years after the series started with Pole’s first album ’1’, the now out-of-print classics are set to be rediscovered or find a new generation of listeners with a love for warm, pulsating basslines and abstract minimal dub.
