Sasha & John Digweed’s biographer

Neil Feineman is a veteran journalist from Los Angeles. He accompanied Sasha and John on their Delta Heavy tour of 2002, and as the crew are setting up for tonight’s party at The Estate in Boston he walks into the venue, his big bushy grey afro bouncing off his warm, experienced face.

He’s currently writing a book on Sasha & Digweed, a book that he started during the duo’s first tour of America.

I ask him what to expect from three weeks of being on the road with the DJs.

“Oh man, last time we all had so much fun that when the tour ended we were all so depressed,” he says, grinning and stroking his chin, reminiscing like a father might of the good old days.

“I actually flew to England straight after Delta Heavy ended to hang out with the boys for three weeks because none of us wanted it to be over.

“Eventually I said, ok guys, I should probably go home and get on with my life.”

Is the road really that tough?

“It’s very tiring, although last time the shows went till 6am or 7am,” says Neil.

“This time most of the shows end about 2am, so it won’t be as grueling I think.

“Plus last time, the tour went all over the place across America, but 2008’s tour is more straight-forward.”

Neil will be following Sasha and John Digweed tour’s this time too, although he won’t be on the bus with us as he’ll be following behind in a car with a photographer.

If anyone on this tour can provide useful insight, it’s my fellow observer Neil Feineman, Sasha and John Digweed’s biographer who was there the first time.
