Samsung announces ‘DJ’ phone, sort of
17 February, 2009 | 4.50PMMobile phone manufacturer Samsung, announced a new phone yesterday and claims it comes with a DJing music app as standard.
The Beat DJ phone offers an enhanced music experience and has Bang and Olufsen technology for rich music playback.
It also has a touch spin wheel and an advanced music play user interface, as well as music filters, scratching features and DJ mix recording.
Sounds great, right? But in reality, the ‘DJing’ functionality of the phone is just a few preset audio effects that allows users to ‘remix’ songs (add noises and manipulate the audio), and then record their ‘creations’.
There’s no mixing functionality or pitch control, as one would expect from an advertised DJing application.
The Beat DJ is part of a new line of DivX video supported mobile phones from Samsung.
