Sample Magic releases SM12 - Progressive House

After a brief hiatus, leading sound design company Sample Magic have been busy putting the finishing touches to their latest sample collection ‘Progressive House’.

Created using an extensive arsenal of vintage analogue synths, Progressive House features over 800Mb of floor-pounding bigroom beats, pulsing basses, deep and driving synths and much, much more..

It’s been 5 months since Sample Magic released their best-selling title ‘Minimal Techno’. Since then the London based sound designers have maximised the talents of their in-house team to develop their most impressive sounding title to date.

“As obvious as it may sound, we wanted a product that would encourage creativity and afford our users an added element of flexibility, not do all the hard work for them. We haven’t over-produced anything - there’s still room for the user to compress, eq and tweak the sounds to the extreme. Every loop you hear is painstakingly created from scratch.” states Sample Magic co-founder David Felton.

All the samples are captured in crystal clear 24-bit clarity at 44.1khz and are encoded as Wav files, Apple Loops, RMX ready Rex files and include patches for Native Instruments’ Kontakt, Reason’s NNXT, Logic’s EXS24 and Steinberg’s Halion. The sounds are grouped as drum loops, tops loops, synth loops, bass loops, drum hits, combi loops and fx, key-labeled where appropriate and presented at 125, 128 and 130bpm.

The label have already enjoyed some early support in the form of leading US producer and remixer du jour Dean Coleman [a] who’s been using the sounds in his latest mix for chart-toppers La Roux. “The beats on Progressive House are the sickest yet from you guys” said Dean earlier in the week when co-founder Sharooz [a] spoke with him.

So why has it taken so long?

“We’ve been busy developing our digital shop Sounds to Sample where you can purchase all Sample Magic titles, and we’ve both been busy with our own production careers. Dave’s released three singles as Jake Island [a] on Toolroom and my own track ‘Get Off’ on Plasmapool was one of last year’s biggest selling electro-house tracks on Beatport” states Sharooz [a]

“We’re not incidental sample producers. We’re full time DJ/producers and that’s why we make the sounds we make. We produce loops that we want to use ourselves in our own music - regardless of genre. As a touring DJ I get to see what works best on the floor every weekend” he continues.

The title is previewed in the latest (June) issue of Future Music magazine in the UK with an accompanying video tutorial highlighting the creative process.

‘Progressive House’ is available to purchase now via Sample Magic (www.samplemagic.com) or as a digital download via Sounds to Sample (www.soundstosample.com).
