SAMC - day two
5 March, 2008 | 11.21PM- Section: Music News Topics: South American Music Conference
The South American Music Conference (SAMC) in Argentina kicked off this week.
The Beatportal team doesn’t arrive in Buenos Aires until late Thursday, but our spy sent us more details about day two of the activities taking place there, with some photos.
We’ll now look at the second in the series of conferences and ‘how to’ seminars at the music school EMBA.
Day 2 of the music seminars took place at the beautiful and very state of the art music school Sonica in Buenos Aires.
Beatportal’s spy on the scene was one of the visitors to the class showing the difference between analog synths and their v-synth counterparts.
From his report on the showcase, it was very interesting to see how the two synth methods are similar, yet nothing beats the real thing.
Ernesto Romeo [above right] and Fabian Kesler [below right] showcased a part of their amazing collection of classic synths, including the Roland 303, 808 and 909.
A Minimoog, a vintage Juno 106 and 160, as well as a grandiose setup of the Prophet ‘08 synth and a classic analog synthesizer were all part of the display.
The panel was wrapped up by a live rendition of the classic Kraftwerk song ‘The Model’ — and it sounded almost identical to the original with all the synths on hand.
Also featured was a seminar about the DJ becoming a producer, and the basics of overall music production.
The evening wrapped up with a presentation from Argentinian music pioneer Carlos Shaw.
The fiestas start Wednesday night with the SAMC pre-party Aktivism vs. Dual Musik at Cocoliche downtown.
