German producer Ryan Halifax [a] manipulates his remix of Fiord [a] - Scratching The Sides on Open Records [l] using his iPhone, Ableton and Griid app.

Ryan Halifax [a]‘s storming techno rework of Fiord [a]‘s Scratching The Sides was released on Australian label Open Records at Beatport this week, and the German producer has put some interesting videos online at his YouTube channel using the remix to showcase some great functionality from both the iPad and iPhone.

This video show Ryan launching clips in Ableton live file of the Fiord remix using the Griid, a great new app from Liine, the company behind the Cliip DAW among other things.

It it’s core, Griid is a fast and fluid way to launch clips using touch objects and gestures using a variety of touch devices. It was just launched in Windows versions too, so nobody misses out.

The rest of Ryan’s channel has him playing around with a variety of other devices and software, proving the his innovation extends well beyond the sound he creates.

His remix of Scratching The Sides will be featured on Open Records [l]‘ first compilation of 2011 Depth Perception, alongside tunes from Mark Henning [a], Seph [a], Subfractal [a] and many more. In keeping with the futuristic technology theme, Depth Perception will be the first Open compilation released on memory stick, with exclusive bonus content.

Stay tuned for more from Ryan Halifax [a] and Open Records [l] very soon!
