Rush Hour’s best-of-2010 mix

Amsterdam’s Rush Hour label enjoyed a banner year in 2010. On the reissues front, there were essential releases from the likes of Anthony “Shake” Shakir, Rick Wilhite, Ron Hardy, Recloose, and even Mandre. Veterans like Moodymann, Daniel Wang, Robert Hood, and Kirk Degiorgio all released new material on the label. KINK, Neville Watson, Nebraska, Tom Trago, Hunee, and others kept classic sounds feeling fresh, while Cosmin TRG and Falty DL turned house and techno inside out. No wonder Resident Advisor named them label of the year in their 2010 contributors’ poll.

Now label head Cool Chris has pulled together 19 of the label’s 2010 tracks into a deep, enveloping, 85-minute mixtape.

If there’s a risk with a catalog as far-reaching as Rush Hour’s, it’s that it can be overwhelming. You’re tempted to gravitate towards just one corner of the catalog, simply because there’s so much to get lost in.
