Rui Da Silva ‘Touch Me’: Dance Anthem

smashed his way onto dancefloors with the soulful and elegant deep house of ‘Touch Me’ in 2001. The beautiful vocals of British singer Cassandra Fox merged perfectly with Rui Da Silva’s dark hypnotic synth melody which to this day, still send shivers down my spine.
The track itself reached No.1 in the UK charts and sold some 300,000 copies, a staggeringly high number considering the lull that electronic music found itself in at the turn of the century.
Interestingly, Rui Da Silva had to give away some of his earnings from ‘Touch Me’ to the record company BMG because the track contained an unlicensed sample from Spandau Ballet’s hit ‘Chant No.1’.
Despite the success of ‘Touch Me’ Cassandra Fox and Rui Da Silva parted ways soon after the record became a hit as Fox said she didn’t want to be involved in electronic music.
