Pangea [Hessle Audio]

Hessle Audio [l] is one of the most forward thinking labels in dubstep at present, and Pangea [a] ‘Router’ is a prime example of the quality two-step music that the label has released thus far.

The label popped up on the dubstep radar earlier this year with the release of Martyn’s sublime remix of TRG’s ‘Broken Heart’, as well as half-step tunes from the likes of Untold [a] and Ramadanman [a].

Setting the template for a new emerging sound, Martyn [a] combined the technicalities of deep house with broken beats and dubstep to create what a lot of people hyped as the tune of the year, with massive support from Kode 9 [a] and Appleblim [a].

This new release from Pangea doesn’t stray too far from the sound of Hessle’s previous output.

It’s got Shackleton [a]-style tribal beats and deep bass, quite similar in sound to that associated with the heavily influential Skull Disco [l] label.

This will easily go down as one of my favourite tracks of the year, along with Martyn’s ‘Broken Heart’ remix and that makes Hessle Audio one of the best labels of 2008 in my book.
