Revisit Miami with ‘Om Miami 2008’

If you miss South Beach or want to vicariously relive the Winter Music Conference (without the excesses and extortionate club prices!), you could do no wrong by savouring ‘Om Miami 2008’, and in particular the Deluxe Unmixed Edition.

In many ways the label’s sound is characterised by the opening cut, Samantha James [pictured] ‘Breathe You In’ mixed by Eric Kupper.

The buzz generated by ‘Rise’, the blue-eyed soulstress’ debut album, was fully justified, and it’s a beautiful marriage of bossa nova rhythms, swinging house beats and sultry soulfully delivered vocals.

Little wonder that it reached the pinnacle of the Billboard Dance Chart.

This, the third instalment in the acclaimed Om Miami series, features 13 of the label’s hottest tracks, specially created with pool parties, late night sessions and chilled afternoons in mind.

Featuring singles from Fred Everything, Unstrung Zeros, Florian Kruse, Wolfgang Gartner, Yankee Zulu and Chuck Love, plus remixes from the likes of Miguel Migs, the highs are many.

Home & Garden’s icy cool ‘In & Out’, featuring vocals from house legend Chez Damier, Fred Everything’s deeply satisfy ‘Understand’, and Wolfgang Gartner electro-etched ‘For The Love Of Girls’ are just three.

Sitting comfortably alongside previous Om releases, there’s also a rhythm-smart mixed version for those that want to enjoy the continuous aural soundscape of the cool, credible and inventive world of house.
