‘Revenge’ makes a comeback

Darryl D’Bonneau’s relationship with Jellybean Soul dates back to 1995 when the New York indie, run by the man that first put Madonna on the map, released ‘Revenge’.

13-years on, the cut returns, newly improved and updated by Scott Wozniak.

In between times, D’Bonneau [pictured[ has had varying degrees of artistic success — the highs including the crossover hit ‘Stop Playing With My Mind’ with Barbara Tucker at the end of the last millennium and working with such legendary luminaries as Martha Wash, Sylvester, Taylor Dayne and Diana Ross.

Back to ‘Revenge’, and Wozniak’s soul-etched retooling is a real attention grabber loaded with subtle qualities: shuffling hats, a chunky kiss-ass bass, organ pads aplenty, and a powerful near-androgynous-like vocal to match the urbane production.
