27 October, 2008 | 1.31PMOliver Moldan’s impressive catalogue of releases speaks for itself, having appeared on an endless number of imprints in all regions of the globe over the last several years.
Audio Therapy
however, has been somewhat of a spiritual home, and he returns to the label once more, teaming up with occasional collaborator and Parquet Recordings
wonder boy Norman Zube
for the single ‘Requiem’.
The original version is an intricate acid-edged track, built around tight percussive layers and a deep, underlying groove that provides an energy level that subtly shifts as the track builds to its string-based finale.
The remix package is truly continental, with Distaff providing a disjointed and innovative version that keeps the main strings intact but encases them in a twisted template of beats and grooves.
This is followed by the Austrian duo of Christopher Groove & Philipp Straub turning in a bass heavy techno inspired slant on the track for the deeper floors.
Rounding out the package is a peak time interpretation from newcomer No Brainer
, whose main room sounds lend well to ‘Requiem’, resulting in a mix that is already garnering some solid DJ support, much like his upcoming original production due to be released soon on Misfit Records.
