REM feat. Diamondancer
Luna City Express [Justified Cause...
28 August, 2007 | 5.45PM- Section: Music Reviews
These remixes of Marco Resman and Norman Webber’s original were put out alongside Barcelona imprint Justified Cause’s ninth outing, as a sort of happy little sub-plot to the Detroit-flavoured tech house hoedown of the ‘Original’.
Beginning with label boss Garcy Noise & Pablo Bolivar’s Re-touch we have something that is not too dissimilar to the ‘Original’.
Most of Diamondancer’s smacked-out vocals about a dream state are left intact bar a couple of repeats and re-edits.
Tight kicks and a compact rhythm and bass sections attribute to the overall wriggly nature of the remix, which raver’s hips will appreciate.
The modulated bass in particular kept us interested in the bottom end, although this effort was let down by a slightly dodgy key change around the middle section of the track.
Thumbs-up must go to the last of the four versions, the ‘Papa Ino Rework’.
This is a model example of how to subtly construct melodic layers.
This is the mellowest of all the efforts, but a wonderful range of percussion and a reduction in the vocal scope put this closest to the Carl Craig comparison the label suggested in its promotion.
