Rekluse - The new label from Fergie & Excentric

Fergie’s Excentric label was one of the stars of 2008, creating himself a platform from which to release his own productions to critical acclaim from techno and progressive jocks alike, including John Digweed and Carl Cox, both of whom featured Fergie-mixed Excentric showcases on their syndicated radio shows.

Prime cuts such as ‘Anon’, ‘Question Mark’, ‘To The Core’ and ‘Black Eye-P’ blurred the lines between what some would call techno and electro-house, in a similar vein to what the likes of Johnny D have achieved with techno and tech-house.

So how does this youthful Northern Irishman follow this success going into 2009? By launching off-shoot label Rekluse, of course. You may already be aware of the label through the outstanding first release ‘2nd To None’ from Umek that stormed it’s way up to the pole position of the techno top 10 on Beatport.

“The track is something that personifies the ideas behind the new label, with so much good music flowing through the Excentric HQ from other like minded and unconventional artists I just felt I needed another outlay specifically to allow me to share it with people, simple as that. The path we want to go down with Rekluse is maybe a little bit more of an accessible one than Excentric, still keeping with the techno roots of Excentric but just perhaps with a bit more of an electronic influence. Henry Von will be running the label and an associated label night for it, we are really looking forward to helping get some bright new names and some amazing new music out there.”

The second release on Rekluse introduces a new artist by the name of Psycatron who for the past six years have been cutting their teeth with one of the most prestigious residencies in Ireland, at the world famous ‘Shine’ in Belfast, as well as it’s sister club ‘The Stiff Kitten’. Their ‘Location Unknown EP’ sums up perfectly their energetic and animated performances, and have major A-list support from the likes of Carl Cox, DJ Hell, Laurent Garnier, Gregor Tresher, Phil Kieran, James Lavelle and Stacey Pullen.

And following this will be a first release from label manager Mr Henry Von and accompanying remix from soon to be huge Loco & Jam, coming to Beatport in February 2009.
