Recommended release: Mr.Statik’s ‘Feelarmonics EP’
5 October, 2008 | 9.00AMStathis Kalatzis is the artist hidden behind the Mr.Statik moniker.
Based in Athens, Greece, he’s been busy teaming up with fellow countrymen Kreon
and Lemos
(Cecille, Resopal, Below) to create the pretty tasty Feelarmonics EP for UK/US based record label Immigrant Records
.
The four track EP, consisting of original tracks A Flock of Seagulls and Panoflutamin, plus remixes, is available on vinyl from 6th October and digitally on Beatport from October 20th.
With a signature style that can fittingly be dubbed ominous and stalking, the tracks take in styles ranging from energetic tech house, grooving chicago style cuts and disco bass techno. Panoflutamin features a great sax sound whilst A Flock of Seagulls utilizes mocking vocal snippets and a quirky ass arrangement.
Having already found favour from the likes of Josh Wink, Sebo K, Jimpster and Solomun, amongst others, we’re inclined to believe this is the real deal.
Europeans can catch Mr.Statik next at Hangar Club, ES, and the legendary Macarena, Barcelona, on 11th and 12th October, and in Berlin during November.
