Ralph Lawson: ‘2007 is Spirit Catcher’s year’

British electro house DJ Ralph Lawson has been speaking out about Spirit Catcher, his latest signing to 2020 Vision Recordings.

The Belgian duo recently released their debut album ‘Night Moves’ to critical acclaim, and Lawson is somewhat chuffed that Spirit Catcher decided to release it on his label.

“I first heard them on a French label called Silver Network,” he said.

“It took one listen for me to love them and then I played a gig with them in London and knew they were 20:20.

“We worked on the album for a long time actually, nearly two years.”

Spirit Catcher’s music fits somewhere in between Quincy Jones and Daft Punk, and is one of the most soulful electronic records Beatportal has heard in a long time.

“We needed new tracks and a clear sound but they were also really clear that they wanted to represent their favourite tracks from the project’s inception four years ago.

“So we included ‘Voodoo Knight’, ‘Rollercoaster’ and ‘Dirty Circuits’ as well.

“I helped on the track order as well, as that is so important to making an album work.

“We went through several versions till we got it right.”

Ralph Lawson is currently touring with Spirit Catcher and will take over Fabric’s mainroom on 24th March, as well as play a couple of high profile gigs in Madrid and Paris.
