Ricardo Villalobos has been placed at #1 in Resident Advisor’s DJ Poll of 2008.

As we mentioned a few weeks back, RA placed the decision of their annual vote in the hands of their users this year in an attempt to better represent their community as a whole.

The list is predominantly ‘underground’ house and techno based, reflecting the nature of the online magazine. 

Making up the rest of the top 5 were Canadian minimalist Richie Hawtin at #2, Chilean party-starter Luciano at #3, and the British pair John Digweed and Sasha placed at #4 and #5 respectively.

DJ Mag’s 2008 #1 Armin Van Buuren surprisingly did make the poll and was voted in at a respectable #36.

All in all, we reckon this is a pretty accurate representation of the DJs who are filling dancefloors in their respective scenes.
