Quarter
Mason [Great Stuff]
13 August, 2007 | 5.21PM- Section: Music Recommendations
Mason’s ascent on the dance scene has been nothing short of astronomical.
From his beginnings in the industry being spotted by Tiësto and playing violin live on stage at the Dutch trancer’s epic concerts, to hitting the big time with his third ever release on Great Stuff ‘Exceeder’.
Returning on the label that launched him into the stratosphere, Mason is sticking in electro house territory with ‘Quarter’.
‘Quarter’ ticks all the right boxes with distorted synths, warping basslines and punchy beats all slickly produced to Mason’s high standards with quirky twists to keep the groove moving.
Though it might be time for him to buy a new synth after the success of ‘Exceeder’ as the sounds here are a little obvious.
Mark Broom’s remix has a rougher dancefloor vibe with heavy techno edges coming through.
The groove is relentlessly rockin’ with much more pump and crunk coming through driven by the snare.
Completing the package is a remix from The Subs.
Given the choice, Beatportal votes for The Subs remix for pure inventive dancefloor madness.
