Prophet 08 module now shipping
22 April, 2008 | 12.00PM- Section: Music News Topics: Technology
After much anticipation, it’s official.
Dave Smith Instruments is now shipping the module version of the Prophet 08.
Configured with either wooden end panels for that classic retro look — or in a four-space rackmount version — the all-analog Prophet sound just got a lot more affordable.
Other than being $500 US cheaper than the full version, the only significant difference between the module and a full Prophet is the absence of a keyboard in the module.
This makes a lot of sense if you already have a keyboard controller, as most producers do.
Everything else is identical to the full Prophet 08.
You can even “Poly Chain” it to another Prophet to double its polyphony.
Personally, it makes more sense to use the module in table-top mode so that you can have easy access to all those wonderful knobs.
Either way, it’s an amazing piece of kit.
MSRP $1649 US
Direct price: $1499 US
