Preview: R and S and Radio Slave join forces

Two years ago Renaat Vandepapeliere anounced the re-birth of one the most influential techno labels of all time, his (and Sabine Maes’) own R & S Records, which has been defunct since the late nineties.

For nearly two years the sole activity of the reborn label-legend was to re-release a big chunk of the countless classics from their back catalogue.

New, exclusive material on R & S was promised but it never saw the light of day.

Well, in August the wait is over.

Honestly, I was quite sure, that the 50-something Renaat had lost interest in his old techno label again and was happily enjoying his breeding farm for sport horses (”El Cid Studfarm“). But how wrong I seem to have been.

In mid-August the first new EP on R & S will be released. It’s the first EP in eight years, and it’s going to be by no one else but the notorious Radio Slave [a].

The two tracks are classic Radio Slave: Long, pounding, trippy and hypnotic, with an undeniable Wildpitch-feel to them.

Maybe Wildpitch will finally have a big comeback (the new EP by Ame, Henrik Schwarz and Dixon on Innervisions is also a full-on Wildpitch monster), these two tracks will definitely tear every dancefloor - in small and big clubs - apart.

So now that the first release of R & S Records’ ‘Misson 2’ is announced, I can’t wait to see what else is coming up.

Remixes of old classics, that for sure, and maybe the rumoured new material from Derrick May ...well I doubt it, but it’s not forbidden to dream, is it?
