Presslaboys mix Audio Therapy
7 March, 2008 | 1.12PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
The Presslaboys (or Luigi Gori and Omar Neri to their mums) are now into their tenth year of making cutting edge dance music.
Never out of their depth amongst their peers, their taut blend of minimal, and at times ethereal techno music, has seen them in the past grace releases on Steve Lawler’s Viva Music, Crosstown Rebels and SAW Records.
The Italian duo’s latest release now comes via Audio Therapy (one of my favourite and certainly the most consistent labels of the genre) with the aptly titled compilation ‘This Is Audio Therapy: Digitally Mixed By The Presslaboys’ — and they’ve been lovingly mixed.
Musically, it evolves across varying degrees of building, climatic peaks and slow descents athwart rich, textured aural planes of melodic synthesised and infectious rhythms.
At times, you can (and quite possibly will) find yourself lost in the experience, almost hypnotised by the austere consistency of the sounds and the seamless mixing.
Along the way, it takes in various versions of tracks from Niki B & Christian EFFE (‘Tonight’), AMB (‘Seka’), Federico Epis (‘Brasilia’) and The Delta Sierra Clinic (‘Riding Armadillos’), as well as Presslaboys’ own ‘Sedicieventinove’, ‘Re-mind’ and ‘Ultimate’.
