Presslab Records January 2009 Releases

Presslab Records is Proud to present the first package of the Year.

Bradler “Solo” EP

After years of successful releases as part of the German-duo Mashtronic, Bradler (Mathias Bradler) presents his first solo production for Presslab Records. With the “Solo” EP, Bradler combines his Progressive House style with elements from Minimal music to create a sound perfect for big dance floors. The EP also features remixes from Cave Sedem, Kornel & Francis and Skitish.  The original version of “Solo” is a German-style progressive track with a subtle kick-and-bass groove and rich, dark elements.  The “Cave Sedem Remix” has a breakbeat intro, interesting rhythm elements, and interesting textures on the sounds used in the transitions.  The “Kornel & Francis Remix” takes the theme from the original version and adds a house kick that lifts the feeling of the track.  The “Skitish Remix” is another dark-influenced progressive track with a solo-analog string theme and delicately-used sweeps on the breakdowns.

Elusive “Sound From The Silo” EP

Norwegian DJ/producer Elusive (Lars Jacobsen) of “Oslo Nights” fame brings an EP to the Presslab Electric label that is as varied as it is fascinating. Entitled “Smokescreen”, this five (5) track collection features sounds ranging from Electro House to Progressive...and even a bit of rock-n-roll!  The title track “Smokescreen” is a cross between Electro and Progressive, with space-sounds in the breakdown.  “You Fool Me” has a more ambient feel, with dark-sounding pads & background vocies, and melodic electro themes.  “Matchstick Sleazy” has a bass line and drum sounds reminiscent of 80’s electro-pop, combined with Electro House elements.  “Then My Feet Caught Fire” is obviously influenced by Jim Morrison & The Doors, and puts Electro sounds together with an old-school organ and a shuffle-groove.  “Weird Bird Beard” sounds like an electronica-musician caught inside a all-night blues jam. At just under three-and-a-half minutes, this track is shorter than the average club track, but well worth a listen.

Florencio & Oktav Audiolight EP

Paris-based DJ/producer Florencio (Florencio de Andrade) presents his second release on Presslab (Presslab Limited), this time collaborating with fellow-Paris DJ Oktav (Octave Vergez-Abadie), and featuring a remix by Presslab-veteran Alex Costa.  The EP “Audiolight” is a collection of three (3) Tech House tracks with familiar sub-bass and electronic sounds that also fit well inside a Minimal DJ set.  The original version of “Audiolight” has a tight kick and sparse percussions, and an interesting arpeggiated-theme that builds as the track progresses.  The Alex Costa remix of “Audiolight” has a harder kick-sound that combines Tech House, Electro & ambient elements.  Rounding out the EP is the original version of “Grain”, another Tech House track with an arpeggiated-theme and very open breakdowns.
