Andomat 3000 and Jan [Morris Audio]...

Switzerland’s Morris Audio has been churning out high-quality techno and house with a distinctly forward-looking flavor since 2001, chiseling out a style that can swing from deep, Detroit-inspired harmonies to jacking, minimally-inclined beats, always infused with a floor-friendly swing.

It’s fitting, then, that their latest release comes from hotly-tipped German duo Andomat 3000 (also known as schranz techno producer DJ Mahatma, fact fans) & Jan, whose vibrant, tribally-tinged ‘Ent’racte Music’ on Cadenza is still being rinsed some 10 months after its release.

‘Emovere’ is possibly the pair’s most ‘techno’ effort so far, with booming, pared-down drums and a majestic synth hook spruced up by plenty of high-end whooshes and an chest-puffing, big room feel.

In keeping with the Morris Audio remit, it’s forward-looking in its sound design but subtly nostalgic in vibe, emulating at points the detached drama of mid ‘90s melodic techno.

‘Microemotion’ is more in keeping with the duo’s previous releases, featuring a heavily-swung drum section replete with twittering chirps and a wriggling percussive fills.

Matching unpretentious engineering with a bittersweet melodic progression, it serves as an aptly intricate counterpart to the bold charms of ‘Emovere’.

Another fine release from this increasingly exciting team.
