Even though dubstep finds its roots in experimental UK garage production, there’s been a shift of certain prouctions towards the deeper end of techno and Basic Channel sounds.

Scuba’s ‘A Mutual Antipathy’ demonstrates this with a move away from more conventional associations of the genre, leaning more towards the electronic, techno edge of things.

Now residing in everyone’s favourite techno nest Berlin, Scuba has rustled up some friends and put together a remix package comprising of some of the local techno talent.

Remix package number one of three includes a huge sounding remix from Surgeon and a blissful rolling, dub/ tech-step from Substance, aka DJ Pete.

Deconstructing all the techier elements from the original, Substance has constructed a deep landscape with sweeping reverb, robotic sounds and industrial imagery.

Although the original context has been adapted to take on a different audience, the base root behind the original is still there, making this yet another extension to the dexterity of dubstep and leaving it open to a wide variety of DJs alike.
