Interview

Q: How and when did all this music business start for you?

A: Everything began around 1996 when I was producing a lot of music for hip hop and R & B and playing around with mixing and scratchin old school records.  After discovering labels like Ninja Tune and Warp, I was inspired and drawn towards electronic music where by the year 2000 I was finally into house and techno.  2000 I went to college where I spun at my first house party….after that everything unfolded itself perfectly to where I am today.

Q: Where are do you find inspiration?

A: I have a lot of inspirations. Jumping from style to style, I love Warp Records, Daft Punk, Sven Vaeth, FSOL, Orbital or Jazzanowe to name a few. I am listening to all genres of music that I always try to keep with me. In my opinion, music simply has to be good and needs to have that something, which will grab my attention. Lately I am listening to Minilogue in my car. At home it is Café Mambo by Andy Cato (chill out).

Q: What gear do you use in your studio?

A: It depends to what kind of music I am producing, but generally it is Cubase 4, NI Komplete 5, Nexus 2 and my favorite PSP Audioware.

Q: Any plans for the future, as a producer and dj?

A: Currently I am organizing my new studio. Really looking forward to more room and a better vibe. I also plan to refresh some of old and unfinished projects. In addition, I am planning to start my own label that will be mostly tech-house with a funky twist. As a DJ I would like to start my live acts on hardware….but that’s for the future….

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your upcoming album on Nine Records [l]?

A: It is very differentiated, according to style, as well as time in which particular tracks were created. The oldest one was done 8 years ago, hence the title: “From Beginning Till Now”

Q: Out of the different genres or styles represented on the album, which do you prefer?

A: It is hard to say. I think the most appropriate answer is: vibe and groove.

Q: Do you like to be pigeonholed to a perticular genre or style?

A: No

Q: Do you prefer to play or to be a producer?

A: It depends on my mood. I love doing both. Playing gives you contact with people, it helps with providing you an outlet. On the other hand the studio is more intimate, you can focus on your own particular goals.

Q: What was your best party ever?

A: Hmmm....there were so many. But my favorites are the big events, like Creamfields or Global Gathering, You can feel the energy there and it’s a great opportunity to control the audience on a big scale, that is a great feeling. Privilege on Ibiza – was a great one as well.

Q: What do you think about electronic music in 2009?

A: Funky-tech-twisted-tribal-progresive-minimal-ravy-house
