Planet E launches Detroit Nu.Wav

Carl Craig’s Planet E Communications celebrates 20 years at the forefront of techno this year, but the label is hardly resting on its laurels. (For one thing, not a lot of laurel trees grow in Detroit.)

Even as they glance back at past glories with releases like 20 F**ing Years of Planet E, they’re inaugurating a new era of Motor City techno with “Detroit Nu.Wav,” a four-part series of EPs (and limited-edition 12” sampler) featuring Reference (Beretta Grey, Echospace), The Oliverwho Factory (Rush Hour), Monty Luke (mothership), Luke Hess (Echocord, Echospace, FXHE), and newcomer Ezana Harris.
