Phil Weeks, “All Day Every Day”
22 November, 2010 | 1.58AMThe new single from Phil Weeks
is ”All Day Every Day,” a funky hypnotic groove that sets the tone for his forthcoming album, slated for release in February.
The Robsoul Recordings
head goes back to his hip-hop and R&B roots on the single and the album, both crafted entirely using an MPC3000. “It’s all about sampling, cutting, tweaking the samples in pieces and doing a puzzle,” Weeks told the Robsoul blog. “Like they do in hip hop – producers like Jay Dilla, DJ Premier and 9th Wonder. I was inspired a lot by this. The MPC3000 has a special groove and a sound that I love and I’m trying to do that with house music for this project.”
Check out more mixes from “All Day Every Day,” including the instrumental, acapella and “Ghetto Mix,” after the jump.
