Pete Tong’s DJ diary: Las Vegas, 10/29/08

Beginning the final leg of this North American tour and Tong Factor talent search, we find Pete Tong in Sin City having a bit of a reunion with friends Eric Prydz, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso.

Find out what Body English had in store for them that night, and get a peek into the tunes that smashed the ‘floor.

Las Vegas, 10/29/08

We leave L.A., enjoying 80+ degrees and glorious sunshine.

It was the perfect place to recharge the batteries and catch up with some old friends.

Pete Tong fans in Vegas

Arriving in Vegas at the huge international terminal, we are reunited with our bags and head to ground zero to search for our pick up, thankfully not a gangster rap stretch limo this time!

Body English is one of a few clubs along with Rain (where Oakey [Paul Oakenfold] has his 52-week residency) that are really pushing the boat out for electronic music in Vegas, and tonight is like a festival with me, Eric Prydz [a] and Steve Angello [a].

I meet the guys for dinner and am pleased to see my old friend Sebastian Ingrosso [a] has made the trip as well.

We are at the Hard Rock which was the first place on the strip to claim a rock ‘n’ roll connection, and they have Japanese nobu so we are happy!

Paul Rogers tests Lady Luck

It’s still a challenge for Eric P. to get round the USA because of his fear of flying, but he’s doing really well and this trip has been well planned.

The trick with playing Vegas is to find a club and a promoter that can attract the locals as well as the tourists.

If you have a strong local base it can be amazing (Thanks Zee!).

Steve first, me in the middle, and Eric to close - he made ‘em wait for a slice of ‘Pjanoo’!

Max Graham [a] also showed up and had a lively table, as his friends from Montreal were in town for a new Cirque De Soleil opening at the weekend. That will be a mad party!

Big tunes

Pryda exclusives

Eric previewed a bunch of things that no doubt will be on You-Tube any minute!

Chris Lake feat Nastala ‘If You Only Knew’

Sounding like a cross between ‘Changes’ and the song ‘Pjanoo’ never had - conventional but huge....and we haven’t had a song like this for a while.

‘Gypsy’ - Eurythmics

Angello ends with a mash up this and the place goes do laaaaaly!

Will it ever be released?

Early flight to Canada - got to go to bed!
