For this week’s interview Pete talks with the legendary ‘Prince of Acid’ Josh Wink who started off at the tender age of thirteen in the music world with an interest sparked from his friend’s radio show. This older radio jock had a mobile DJ set up, and the young Josh from there began beat-mixing and spinning himself. A few years later, Josh began DJing at school parties and then warehouse parties in Phillie, and it was a natural progression to production from there, when in 1989 he made his first record. He notes that he is still baffled with his many genre crossovers as well as the scope of the different DJs who play his music. In February ‘09 his fourth artist album will be released on Ovum Recordings
- what he describes as a compilation of older, genre-spanning unreleased music, all reflective of his wide range as producer and artist. His brand spanking new website, www.joshwink.com just launched, so for more information on his latest goings on check that out, or go to his MySpace page.
In the background of the interview, we heard ‘Stay Out All Night’ (Organ Mix) and ‘Counter Clock 319’ due out on Ovum Recordings
.
