Pete Tong ‘I love Ableton’
Pete Tong ‘I love Ableton’
1 August, 2007 | 3.55PMBritain’s Pete Tong
has revealed that he’s fallen in love with software program Ableton Live, which he now uses for all his DJ sets.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ spoke out for a forthcoming interview for Beatportal.
“I’ve always been very much an early adapter of new technology,” he told Beatportal’s Terry Church.
“I switched from vinyl to CDs as soon as the CDJ-1000 came out, and a few years ago I started using Serato Scratch.
“I got over the phobia of having only a laptop controlling the music, and my record collection became much more organised.
“But then after a while I realised I wasn’t doing anything with Serato that I wasn’t doing before with vinyl, so then I leaped to Ableton.
“I still keep it honourable to a traditional DJ mixer though, but putting all the output channels through a mixer.
“Ableton is a phenomenal creative tool and this year I’m starting to realise its full potential.
“At first it was like learning a new language, but now I know the slang.”
