Looking back at 2008, Pete notes that ‘Williams Blood’ from Grace Jones
was particularly standout, and urges everyone to get themselves a copy of this stellar single.
This week Pete talks to Kidda
, who released his debut album this year on Skint
. He talks about 2008’s tours and the release of this album which includes a Herve
remix of ‘Under the Sun’. He touches on how that collaboration came about and where the track has been picked up. Kidda says this first artist album of his was actually finished in 2007, and this year was more about promoting and finalizing it. Kidda discusses his hip-hop roots and how the album features vocalists Blak Twang
and Lomax
among other top names, and includes downtempo, folk soul and Northern Soul influences. 2009 is slated to be busy, with several European festivals and tours kicking off the new year with a bang. ‘Under the Sun’ drops on the U.K. radio in early 2009 and the follow up single will be released shortly thereafter.
Also, exclusive to the mobile phone version of the show is ‘Critical Mass’ from Nick Curly.
In other news, Fast Trax has partnered up with a new mobile social network and will be changing next week with a new name, to boot. Pete leaves us hanging, saying all will be revealed on next week’s show, so stay tuned for details.
