Pete Heller, Ashley Beedle, Rocky & Diesel, LeftsideWobble join Trees for Cities on Sat 14 Aug

Trees for Cities, the charity that plants trees and has a lot of fun doing it, presents its summer fundraising do. Back to our Roots takes Trees for Cities back to King’s Cross, where we started partying back in 1993 – and planted our first trees in the capital.

On 14 August, we’re taking over The Driver, a gastro pub and club hosted by long-time Trees friend and former Cross club owner Billy Reilly.

Our brilliant DJ line-up: Pete Heller [a], Jonathan Moore (Leftside Wobble), Rocky & Diesel (X-Press 2), Ashley Beedle (Warbox Outernational dub set), Ben Osborne (Noise of Art), David Jenkinson (HermosaBeatsCartel), Rupert ‘Special’ Brewer and Chris Fairbrother.

Tickets for Back to our Roots are available online, price £10. If you’re signed up to the 2010 Tree-Athlon, our 5Km run, and fancy coming along, entry is FREE. Plus there’s discounted entry for friends and a family of runners.

Over 18 years, Trees for Cities has partied in clubs, bars, bus garages and on Thames river boats to raise funds to green urban areas most in need. We’ve planted nearly 200,000 trees in cities from London and Manchester to Ica in Peru and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

We spent five years as a resident promoter at the Cross. The clubs on the King’s Cross site - Bagleys/Canvas, Key and Cross - still stand mothballed as they’re all Grade II listed buildings. Our first-ever community project was on the Bemerton estate in King’s Cross. The Bemerton was the first to benefit from our resident-led planting days.
