Paul van Dyk slams ‘trancey vocal nonsense’
25 April, 2009 | 4.57AMIn a recent interview at Trance Energy, Paul van Dyk
spoke out about his thoughts on the current state of trance including a rare outburst about how a lot of today’s trance music is “really cheesy shit music”.
This isn’t the first time PvD has expressed his disliking for the music that is considered ‘trance’ today, but after the recent heavy discussions on Beatportal about the state of trance his comments are timely.
Just in case you miss it, the full quote verbatim is: “To be really honest a lot of the stuff, when we started in the early 1990s and then suddenly it was called trance there was a deeper feel to it, and a lot of the music that is being called trance these days is actually really cheesy shit music.”
And in case you want to catch up on the Beatport trance discussions:
Tiësto to return to privilege ibiza: A debate broke out about the role of trance in electronic music.
Video: Art of Trance ‘Swarm’: Art of Trance’s new single ‘Swarm’ is the kind of “deeper” trance that Paul van Dyk talks about in his interview.
