The Zoo Project: The best party in Ibiza?

Take an old, abandoned zoo, put a DJ booth in the seal pit, hire some fire-eaters for entertainment, invite some friendly clubbers and you’ve got the perfect Ibizan party.

The Zoo Project, which attracted about 1,500 party animals yesterday, is a must for anyone who loves dancing in the sunshine and is after one of those unique clubbing experiences you can only get in Ibiza.

The bar staff were easy going, the promoters were super friendly and everyone had a smile permanently plastered across their faces.

The party started at 5pm and finished at midnight and the open-air venue had two arenas, where human versions of zebras, tigers and monkeys could be seen giving it their all to underground techno, house and electro music.

There was a real sense of unity as party-goers fully participated in the theme by dressing up as zoo animals.

But if it’s cultural diversity you’re after, this is perhaps not the party for you, as the crowd was mostly made up of English people.

They did, however, reflect that true Ibizan feel-good vibe. Even the tiniest of nudges against you on the dancefloor was immediately followed by a “sorry,” which often leads to a full on heart-to-heart with a perfect stranger.

You’ll definitely meet your new best friend at The Zoo Project, but don’t make the mistake of going to the People From Ibiza afterparty at Amnesia as the vibe was totally different.

Still it’s good to know that the daytime outdoor party vibe of Ibiza can still be found, if you look hard enough.
