Parking Violation
Parking Violation (Ejay's Salt & Pepper Mix)

16 October, 2008 | 9.23AMFor true ‘heads, doing anything on a dancefloor other than dancing – standing, texting, talking, sucking face – is just not cool, man.
But almost equally reprehensible is walking over to someone doing one of these things and telling them not to: It violates the egalitarian spirit of underground clubland.
The Bump Shop Music
crew has made it easier on all of us by doing it with a song by Meter Maid, ‘Parking Violation’.
The Denver-based label has been quietly putting out proper Chicago-inflected disco-funk since 2006.
But their latest package is so vintage, it sounds straight outta the ‘80s.
And it is: The Midnight Star original, ‘No Parking’, came out in 1983.
“No parking, baby. No parking on the dancefloor,” bleats a soul-fried voice over music that could only be described as ‘Car Wash’ meets Coolio’s ‘Fantastic Voyage’.
This could be the theme song to a disco sitcom.
