Parham & Plaza pres. The Quantum Mechanics…

Parham & Plaza pres. The Quantum Mechanics…

Unfokused Music is the brainchild of Parham Shafti and Jon Sutton. Parham is best known for his work as one half of Parham & Plaza on labels such as Renaissance, Audio Therapy and Vapour amongst. Jon was the driving force behind the legendary (but sadly now defunt) Fluid Recordings and also one half of Evolution (alongside Barry Jamieson)

Here Parham teams up with Plaza again to form The Quantum Mechanics, dishing out another dose of their unique “hybrid sound” that sits somewhere between deep tech house, progressive and minimal.

People & Rebels comes in three versions. The People’s Mix is a real power-house of a track. A distinctive chopped up drum pattern under-pins a dual combo of low-slung and aggressive basslines and bags of dramatic, tension filled effects

The Rebels Mix takes a deeper, more spaced out route; basing itself around one huge throbbing bassline and atmospheric layers of drawn out pads. Successions of bleepy riffs break up the tension and add a melodic element to the darkness.

Sonat Records boss Ludovic Vendi enhances his reputation following recent outstanding works for Davide Squillace’s Minisketch label amongst others with a shimmering, epic journey through late-night musical but minimized techno.

Completing the EP is Thin Slicing; a haunting soundscape of echoing synths layered amongst a low humming bass that murmurs in the background. Industrial clangs and melancholy keys punctuate things, adding to the heavy, moody feel.
