If Free Blood sounds kind of familiar then you have to look no further than !!!, John Pugh’s old indie, disco outfit, which he left to peruse this new project.

They have a sound set up that seems synonymous of most DFA outfits - heavy bass drums, bass guitar, hand claps, keys and a whole other multitude of deep percussion.

Free Blood have produced a far more experimental record than their other DFA contemporaries.

It’s a moody, almost bluesy affair.

John’s aim with Free Blood supposedly was to merge two disparate New York party styles - the swanky Manhattan vibe with the Brooklyn squat party ethos.

What he’s ended up with though is a fun, all out, no wave Pangatang party tune, that’s accessible whether you’re in Brooklyn, Manhattan or Timbuktu.
