Paolo Mojo hits hard with ‘Nightlaw’
7 May, 2008 | 9.46AM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
“People who rise above the simple act of playing records to create something magical.
People who are born to play to a crowd, to heighten the senses and inspire reaction and emotion in both clubbers and their peers.
People that create a palpable sense of anticipation when they take to the decks because the crowd know they are in for a ride.
People that balance the atmosphere on a knife-edge and then drop you off pull you back up and throw your senses to all points of the emotional compass.
Paolo Mojo is one of those DJs.”
His press agent’s words not mine, BUT, and it’s a big one, there is something refreshingly satisfying when listening to the producer’s music.
His latest is the hard-hitting ‘Nightlaw’ on his self-run Oosh Records label.
Already crowned with the coveted Essential New Tune accolade, this follows on from ‘JMJ’ that was Pete Tong’s “Tune of Pure Pacha 2007”.
‘Nightlaw’ is a characteristically tougher and sparser production, topped with a killer bassline and crazy drum frenzy.
Simple, yet totally devastating.
And in the words of Pete Tong: “With this record he is going to another level. Paolo is set to have an amazing 2008.”
We would have to agree.
