‘Oye Como Va’ by Tito Puente gets remixed
29 April, 2008 | 3.13PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
Even several years after his death, Tito Puente’s classic ‘Oye Como Va’ still has enough clout to make a near perennially re-release.
Afro-Cuban music at its very best with the assistance of India’s dreamy vocal interplay variations of ‘Oye Como Va’ have been filling dancefloors — of the both cool and commercial variety — since it debuted back in 1995.
One of the first releases on the Big In Ibiza imprint — this actually the new UMM label’s morphed identity — it again stands every chance of mass acceptance, not least thanks to a great new mix package boasting versions from Andy BopH on an interesting electro-tip.
There’s also a Pedro De La Fiesta Remix that maximises the Latin spirit to the full riding a bassline, not unlike Inner City’s ‘Good Life’.
