Owner of Ibiza Underground refuses to advertise

The owner of the Ibizan club ‘Underground Ibiza’, Nick Fry, prides himself on purposefully avoiding promotion, sponsorship and advertising.

We asked him why this was. Here’s what he said:

“It’s almost as if the advertising and promotion in Ibiza is brainwashing people.

“No one has any time in their holiday schedule to explore anything else because clubs like Space and Privilege have sucked everybody up.

“People are now given less opportunity to think for themselves – it’s like a shepherd and sheep mentality. People follow each other and they feel like they have to have good time because of the amount of money they’ve spent on their night.

“Sometimes I find it frustrating trying to compete because there’s such a reliance on advertising over here.

“I have to ask myself: ‘If I don’t play their game, will I get taken out of the story?’”
