Orbital to reform for Big Chill festival live set
25 November, 2008 | 4.22PMBritish dance veterans Orbital
have announced that they will reform for a one-off live show at The Big Chill festival in the UK in August 2009.
After 10 years of being at the top of dance music the Hartnoll brothers went their separate ways in 2004, much to the dismay of the electronic music community - over the years Orbital released a large volume of electronic music, some of which to this day remains influential and anthemic.
“We’ve never said never,” Paul Hartnoll said, with regards to the fact people thought Orbital were confined to the history books.
“It’s something I suspected would happen, which is why we kept hold of certain key bits of odd equipment...there have been slight rumblings about getting back together before but it didn’t feel good. This time it just felt right.”
It’s unclear what Orbital’s special 90-minute live performance will look like, but Big Chill festival goers can hope for a set list that includes the timeless classics ‘Belfast’, ‘Kinetic’, ‘Halcyon’, and Orbital’s debut single ‘Chime’ (which was recorded for less than £100). Plus their famous torch glasses no doubt.

Here’s an old video we dug up of Orbital performing live at Glastonbury. The quality isn’t great, but you get a good sense of what their about when they play live.
