Ora Recordings Q10: Urban Lea

Ora Recordings Q10: Urban Lea

Every week an Ora Recordings [l] artist will answer questions part of the Q10 interview.

This week: Urban Lea [a].

1) Tell us more about yourself. Where are you from?
My real name is Danny Lea and I am 23 years old from St Helens, Merseyside, England.

2) How long have you been involved with music?
I have been involved with music for as long as I can remember. I use to play trombone in a brass band when I was 13 and have been involved with music ever since.

3) How did you get started in music?
I initially got involved in music through playing trombone in a brass band but also use to play guitar previous to that. I cant really remember the first
thing that got me involved in music but I got into dance music through my brother with his hardcore / trance cassettes during the late 90s and in early 2000

4) Who are your influences or your favourite artists?
I have a lot of different influences and favorite artists in various genres of music.

5) Tell us about your relationship with Ora Recordings [l].
I emailed Ora Recordings with a demo early this year and got speaking to Gabriel Batz [a] and have been friends with him since.

6) What studio gear do you use in order to create your music?
I have an Evolution midi controller, 2 Behringer TRUTH B2031A speakers and a Behringer Eurorack UB1002 mixing desk. I also have 2 CDJ 800 mk2s and a Djm 600 mixer.

7) Do you rely on software or hardware?
I use all software.

8) In what direction do you see the music industry going in the next years?
I see the future of music going all digital with more and more people getting into the production of music.

9) What are your views and opinions on downloads and file sharing?
I agree with file sharing for mixes as I have personally come across some amazing tracks that I would normally not have come across browsing the online
digital stores but as far as downloading individual tracks illegally, I disagree with. I love online download stores as they are an excellent way of browsing
music and getting brand new tracks cheaply and quickly.

10) What are you future music plans (gigs, radio shows, releases, current projects)?
I am currently working on a new album and am re-launching Solar Core Sessions radio next year on danceradio.gr. I will be heavily promoting the record label I own with my brother Chris (10oz Decibels Records) next year also and have a new music project on the way!
