Ora Recordings Q10: Tiri
Ora Recordings Q10: Tiri
10 February, 2009 | 5.14AMEvery week an Ora Recordings
artist will answer questions part of the Q10 interview.
This week: Tiri
.
1) Tell us more about yourself. Where are you from?
I’m from a town in the west of Ukraine. Yes, that mysterious country that has vodka and beautiful women =) I’m 18 and I’m studying in a university.
2) How long have you been involved with music?
Less than two years ago I didn’t actually know what a sequencer or a vst is and I’ve discovered EDM only 3 years ago.
3) How did you get started in music?
I guess that I had a lot of ideas, melodies in my mind, so I started to read everything I could find about producing. Maybe some people would say “twisting knobs, listening to the same samples all day is fu**ing boring!”, I guess it is)) but I was totally addicted! And then I really fell in love with music.
4) Who are your influences or your favorite artists?
A lot of artists have an influence on me, I am a fan of Hanz Zimmer, Clint Mansell
and James Horner, they make brilliant soundtracks. I like to listen to Snow Patrol
and Coldplay, George Michael, Sting, Enigma, Royksopp
, Planet Funk
...oh, I can’t name all! My favorite trance tracks, the ones that inspired me were from Galen Behr
, Armin van Buuren, Gabriel Batz
, Markus Shulz, Above & Beyond
, Leon Bolier
, Mesh
and Cape Town
. At the moment my favorite artists are Marcus Schossow
, Mark Sixma
aka M6, Maor Levi
, Orjan Nilsen
and Leon Bolier
, these guys have some crazy stuff and they sound really awesome!
5) Tell us about your relationship with Ora Recordings.
I’ve came in touch with Gabriel through MySpace, I asked him to listen to my track called “Levitation” and I was really surprised when he offered me to sign it to his label) Also I had a follow up to my first tune and it’s also will be released on Ora.
6) What studio gear do you use in order to create your music?
I use Ableton Live and I love it! You can have a lot of fun with it and it has huge amounts of features that artist needs.
7) Do you rely on software or hardware?
Well, I’m a poor student and I can’t afford hardware) I use my computer and a lot of software VST’s instead.
8) In what direction do you see the music industry going in the next years?
Oh, that question again. I can’t tell you for sure. Let’s live and see what is going to happen.
9) What are your views and opinions on downloads and file sharing?
It’s the way how the things are now, we can’t change it. One side is a good promotion and the other - no money.
10) What are you future music plans (gigs, radio shows, releases, current projects)?
I’m experimenting and improving my sound at the moment and I have a few tracks that I’m working on for some time so you should hear from me soon ;)
