Open Records is proud to present the Fulcrum - Lerenpri EP, the debut release for one of Australia’s best known & loved progressive DJs, Gavin Martin.

Gavin is a stalwart of the Melbourne underground scene, playing parties, clubs & festivals both in Australia & internationally for well over 10 years.

Gavin is a “DJs favourite” in Australia, with many of Australia’s other influential talents citing Gavin as either influence or co-conspirator. His progressive & tribal house, deep techno, minimal & slamming electro-house have become staple diet for Australian dancefloors, year after year taking the stage at Australia’s major club nights & festivals, most notably Rainbow Serpent.

His support list reads like a who’s who in electronic music, with names like D-Nox & Beckers, Minilogue, Alex Smoke, Kasey Taylor & Paul Van Dyk jumping off the page if you could name but a few.

The past few years have seen Gavin experimenting in the studio more & more, culminating in 2 projects- Fulcrum & GMJ. With both these projects Gavin hopes to make the successful move into the production realm, and after hearing what he has to offer we thing he wont have any trouble!

Fulcrum follows a more progressive house sound, with evolving soundscapes, tribal percussions and emotive melodies- a classic sound that is becoming harder & harder to find in the face of the electro-revolution. The other project, GMJ explores deep techno and minimal realms, with stabby percussive grooves and a focus on funky bass rhythms and overall groove.

Both projects retain a truely “Australian” feel, with broad spacios atmospheres and organic percussion sounds, fitting perfectly into the Open Records sound.

Apart from this and other up-and-coming releases on Open, Gavin has been turning heads elsewhere, signing tracks to France’s Bus Records, Melbourne’s Resurgent & in negotiations with several othres.

The Lerenpri EP features 3 interpretations of the tribal track, each favourite a slightly different approach but all retaining the same sourning melodies and deep bass-groove.

Open Records is proud to present this first release from Fulcrum, and hope it will be the start of a successful move to the production realm for Gavin in 2007.
