Just in time for the end of the Australian festival summer, Open Records are back to deliver their 2nd full length release ‘Festivus’, compiled by Suspekt & Woodsman.
‘Festivus’ aims to capture a broad range of progressive styles, from the deep tribal trance & house Open Records has become known for- to new directions of hypnotic techno & dirty tek-electro influenced material, the compilation aims to capture both the classic & future sound of the Australian outdoor festival season.
Drawing on cutting edge productions from both international masters & homegrown talent to create a stellar collection of 9 festival stompers- Festivus is a return to strong form for the Australian label after the success of their first compilation Slow-Release.
The CD features massive tracks from some of progressive’s biggest names, including Fiord (aka Antix), Wombat (a new side project of Australian progressive trance master SunControlSpecies), collaborations between RPO & David Weed and D-Sens & Eegor and amazing fresh remix of Hiding Place by Embark.
The CD also features strong new talent in names like 2Kings in Motion, Urban Monkeys, U&K (Tero Civill Remix) and GMJ.
Open Records’ simple philosophy of “music first” means that each track has its own special place on the compilation, making Festivus a must for fans of intelligent progressive dance music- DJs & listeners alike.
Out on March 10, exclusive to beatport.com.

Here’s what a few people have been saying about this release!
“At the intro it becomes clear this is gonna rival the best of dance complilations… you would be excused for thinking this was for a top mainstream progressive label, sharp production and distinct sound…the production is impeccable were this a mix set from a top 5 dj you would consider the mix faultless, but as it is we have a choice…Congrats go out to Open Records!”
- Simon Lathan – progressivehouse.com
“This second compilation by the Australian label Open Record is a brilliant mixture between electro, tribal progressive house and deep atmospheres. All the tracks are selected with a great caution to deliver us a perfect Australian feeling: warm and wild! All here is made to remind us the afternoon bush festivals flavour. From RPO, Fiord, D-sens or Wombat, to name a few, all tracks are tribal progressive dancefloor bombs!”
- Vincent - Solead/Motion
“This cd is super quality, i love the dark atmosphere of all of your releases! Great choices of tracks and great concept, I especially liked the Embark remix of Hiding Place, Wombat and the RPO vs David Weed!”

“Great comp from down under! Very good quality music all the way… I like Wombat and Fiord the best though for sure!”
- Bakke (Spiral Trax – Sweden)
“This compilation is a perfect DJ tool blending various genres of dance music. A Mixture of pumping grooves with intelligent arrangements and high quality productions! 2Kings in Motion is the best for me!”
