Omar S has been placed in line to mix the next installment of the fabled Fabric mix series.

The Detroit producer has taken the path trodden by Ricardo Villalobos and opted to build his Fabric mix entirely from his own productions. 

As he explained: “My booking agent and I were talking about doing a mix for Fabric over the last year, and for me, over the last year I haven’t really been feeling anybody’s music, there’s been no music that I feel.”

Releasing exclusively through his own FXHE Records, Omar S has cut a formidable reputation as a purveyor of quality control, personally taking care of every step of the release process down to hand writing his own white labels. 

Probably best known for his ‘Psychotic Photosynthesis’ release from early last year, (a track he claims to have “made in minutes") Alex Omar Smith has become something of a shadowy figure in the scene, only ever granting two interviews and barely playing outside of his home town of Detroit. 

On the mix he commented, “I did a few different versions, remixes, of a few of the tracks on the CD, and there are about four tracks on there that haven’t been released yet. I know a lot of new people will listen to it, so of course I put my important songs on there, but I wanted to make it varied and mix it the right way.”
