Not Exactly / We Fail
Not Exactly / We Fail
Deadmau5 [Mau5trap]
12 October, 2007 | 10.00AMHot on the heels of the debut release on his own Mau5trap
imprint, Canada’s Joel Zimmerman is back with another AA offering under his Deadmau5
guise.
‘Not Exactly’ is a big electro tinged epic, not too far removed from the equally well received ‘Jaded’, whilst ‘We Fail’ is a deeper excursion, verging more towards tech house than the majority of Zimmerman’s prior body of work.
Both tracks, as one might expect, have been receiving some extensive DJ support, with ‘Not Exactly’ having been a staple of the summer festivals.
The production quality is flawless and the engineering tweaked to precision.
It’s these facts perhaps or the easy accessibility and delivery each Deadmau5 track has that is responsible for their impact on Beatport’s top 10, but when all is said and done, the progression in sound throughout his numerous tracks and remixes as of late has been minimal at best.
One cannot detract from the success Deadmau5 has achieved and enjoyed recently, but can certainly question how much gas is left in the tank.
For the moment at least, Deadmau5 is still on top of the charts, and at this rate, will soon have the Beatport Top 10 exclusively dedicated to himself.
