Ijah ft D’Empress [Big Love]
12 October, 2007 | 11.45AMThe classic 1994 Nervous club hit starred the dazzling vocals of original dance diva Kim English and was produced by Ten City – a hard act to follow!
Big Love Records have got their eye on a big chart prize with this release.
Featuring the vocal talents of D’Empress AKA Diane Charlemagne who has worked with the cream of talent from Goldie to Satoshi Tomiie and toured with Moby was, frankly, a masterstroke.
Her interpretation of the song is as good if not better than the original.
Seamus Haji steps up lift the vocal into a funky feel-good anthem.
Using some a chuggy but gentle synth to drive along the groove and plenty of strings and washes to create a swinging funky track places the emphasis on the song – a big pop-flavoured production.
Swiss young gun Danny Freakazoid has been making a name for himself with a debut album on CR2 last year at the tender age of 21; now, he heads straight for the big room jugular with this mix!
Limiting the vocals to snippets and keeping the emphasis on big builds and drops driven along by an ‘80s bassline and electro house synth stabs, this is aimed squarely at the dancefloor.
