Lets start with a standard question. When and how did your career kick start, and how did you get to where you are today?

My career began in the early nineties when I moved to Colorado to go to Collage and landed my first residency for the infamous Together Productions in Denver, Colorado.

Together productions did weekly rave and club events in Colorado.

This really boosted my popularity within a year landing me more residencies and one off gigs.

By the mid nineties I was playing all over the US and Canada. After moving back to Chicago in 98 is when true hard work began.

Nine Records and Ninechannel Multimedia, Inc. were born and I really kicked my productions in to high gear.

I also landed some new residencies which led to more gigs at home turf and the world. 2007 was definitely a great year for myself and Ninechannel.

It took a lot of hard work and patience to get there and i would not take it back for the world.

What did you listen to in your younger years and what music influenced you the most?

I listened to all genres of music ranging from artists like Miles Davis, Guns n Roses to Public Enemy.

But the bands that really influenced me the most where Eurythmics, New Order, Depeche Mode, Yaz, Yello and a small collection of disco records.

Your reside in Chicago, you have had opportunities to play here and abroad. What are the differences?

Each place is different but the vibe should always be the same. Its the size and vibe of the crowd that determines the differences in how I play to the crowd, not the country, continent.

Yes sure the culture, the people and everything is different… but this does not affect the style or genre I play. Its definitely the size, atmosphere and set time.

Years back as well as in your sets as in productions you heard a lot of funky, filtered pumping, house. Now its electro and tech-house.  Have you totally given up on the funky filtered house? Are these changes a result of market trends or personal preference?

I have definitely changed up my sound both as a DJ and producer in the past few years.

At first it was more for market reasons.

Disco filtered house sales really slowed down and it was time for a change and keep up with the times and musical trends.

Honestly, the electro and tech house / minimal sound have really grown on me and I have learned to love them. I feel like I am no longer limited to just samples and grooves in the studio and can really utilize all my gear and plug ins.

I love searching for new sounds, synths, sequences, drums, and actually writing the music more so than i did finding grooves and samples on all my disco records which have been sampled over and over again. also when DJiing I feel like I can really work the crowd more.

I am able to take the crowd into a deeper or more-driving state if needed. I strongly believe this was not possible with just filtered house tracks in my set.

Do you have any favorite producers that come to mind?

At the moment I am really into Sebastian Leger, Mark Knight, Nic Fanculli (Skylark), and Noir productions. Much props to those guys.

Do you feel more like a DJ or Producer?

At the moment a producer because I have been spending all my free time in the studio.

My self and longtime friend Sean Biddle (Bid Muzik) have formed a new group called Xtra Agenda.

We have been working hard on fresh material and remixes for Craig C. Feat. Crystal Waters, Ultra Nate and Rihanna.

Do you use hardware or software in your studio?

I use both. For sequencing I use Logic on a power mac with lots of plug ins. Some of my outboard gear consists or a roland sh-101, access virus c, akai s2000 and an apogee ensemble for audio processing

You are the boss of the very successful Nine Records, Tell us how you managed to conglomerate so many strong names as Leger or Fiasco? What are your plans for future releases?

Thank you...Nine Records is my baby and it took a lot of hard work to nurture it and have it grow up into a fine record label.

I have been deeply involved in the industry for the past 12 years during which I have been net working whenever possible.

You would be surprised how many contacts one can acquire after 12 years! Some of the artists are good friends, like Johnny Fiasco who actually submitted the Footnotes Vol. 1 Ep to Nine himself.

Others are contacted with remix or production requests through their agencies or managers.

All the hard work has definitely payed off as 2008 has lots in store for every one.  Some of our upcoming releases are from artists such as Simon.S, Rhythm Code, Moonbeam, A some talented new comers from Poland: Mafia mike and Jakub Rene Kosik.

In 2007 you held a residency at Privilege in Ibiza. Can you tell us more about it?

Yes, summer 2007 Ninechannel Multimedia, Inc. and Spy Bar Chicago had a chance to host Ninechannel Sessions at Prvilege in Ibiza.

My self and Dino G headlined with some of worlds best talent at our events.  We experienced great and unforgettable times.

Over all the parties were a huge success.

Besides our main competition, Cocoon at Amnesia, I can safely say we had one of the best parties on the island!

Everyone can check out photos from Ibiza season on Ninechannel.com gallery section. I look forward to another summer on the island definitely miss the sun and the great atmosphere.

Some people think this is the end of Ibiza, do you think that’s true?

I don’t think its the end.

Some things are definitely going to change and actually have changed last season.

For instance many of the events including ours could not go past 7:30 am.

Local government has placed certain restrictions on clubs and its owners trying to make the island a bit safer and drug free.

I am sure that everyone will adapt to these new restrictions and laws and continue to enjoy ibiza.

What do you hope to see in the near future for you, and the label?

Want to keep on spreading the virus of Nine Records unique sounds. We want the whole world infected.

Last but not least what o you do in your free time?

When time allows for it I enjoy a good meal and drink with friends and family or catch up on sleep.
