Nightmares on Wax set to release new album

Weaned on the likes of Curtis Mayfield and Quincy Jones, Leeds-based George Evelyn is finally dropping his sixth, highly-anticipated Nightmares on Wax studio album, due out on Warp Records in late August. 

It’s about time.

According to factmagazine, Evelyn was on his way from Leeds to Ibiza back in 2006 with his DJ equipment, a convoy of band members and engineers when inspiration for this new album struck.

Said by some to be a return to his bleepy hip-hop roots, this album will hopefully bring us back to a heavier, more soulful vibe.

If anyone recalls the groundbreaking ‘Smoker’s Delight’ from 1995, you can attest to its status as a quintessential chilled-out delight for smokers and non-smokers alike. 

His recent weekly ‘Wax Da Beach’ set-up at the beach bar Kumharas on Ibiza has also stretched its influence over the sound, so this album will be an interesting experiment in marrying the b-boy soul that N.O.W is so renowned for with a free and breezy Ibiza-kinda vibe.
